Dan Mager, MSW is the author of Some Assembly Required: A Balanced Approach to Recovery from Addiction and Chronic Pain and Roots and Wings: Mindful Parenting in Recovery. He is a writer and editor in long-term recovery. He has nearly twenty years of post-master’s experience as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and clinical director in behavioral health and addiction treatment settings, including community-based outpatient services, residential treatment centers, and hospital-based programs. He received his MSW from Hunter College (City University of New York), School of Social Work and is a Certified Diplomate in Clinical Hypnotherapy (NBDCH) with the National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists (NBCCH). A native of Oyster Bay, New York, he now lives in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I have 20 years of post-Master’s experience as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and clinical director in a wide range of behavioral health and addiction treatment settings, and over 10 years of experience ghostwriting and editing wellness-related books for the general public and professional community, as well as, developing & writing solution-oriented skills-building materials in the form of guidebooks, workbooks, and curricula for clinical purposes/treatment programs, and the recovery community.

I’ve been practicing meditation for 40 years (literally!) and have been learning and practicing various other forms of mindfulness for more than two decades. I have a deep commitment to solution-focused approaches that enhance the capacity of people to move toward health and wholeness by living more mindfully, with greater mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual balance.

My professional experience as an author, editor, coach, speaker, and consultant combines with my personal experience as a parent, partner, son, sibling, friend, avid hiker, and person in long-term recovery to bring my work to life with practical expertise and present-centered engagement.
